About Yap Online Dictation

Yap Online Dictation is a free web tool for turning speech into text in your browser. Open the page, press the microphone, and speak. Your words appear as text you can edit, copy, or download as a .txt file. Speech is recognized in your browser with OpenAI's Whisper model, so your voice is never uploaded to a server. There is no sign-up, no account, and no limit on the number of recordings. English mode is available, and Any language mode recognizes 99 languages with automatic detection. Each recording can run for up to 2 minutes, and you can record as many times as you like. The first use downloads the speech model once (about 80 MB), which the browser caches, so recognition keeps working without an internet connection afterwards. It works best in current desktop Chrome or Edge. Nothing you say is stored on a server. Typing mistakes are easy to fix because the output is plain text you can change before you copy it. The tool suits quick notes, drafts, messages, meeting follow-ups, and any writing you would rather say than type. It is a good fit for people who want speech to text without installing software, and for anyone who wants their voice kept on their own device. The tool is
